16.A. Appointments
Description:
The Administration requests approval to hire Lisa Woods, Special Education Teacher position, at Masters +45 Step 13 ($85,074.00) with full benefits effective August 17, 2026. Ms. Woods brings more than 27 years of experience in special education across multiple local school districts and has demonstrated expertise in student support, instructional leadership, and compliance. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Bloomsburg University, a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from Temple University, and an Administrative Certification K-12 from Edinboro University. Most recently, Ms. Woods has served as a Special Education Coach for the Lower Dauphin School District, where she collaborated with staff and families to support student achievement, provides professional development, and assists with special education compliance. Her extensive experience as a learning support teacher, instructional leader, and mentor makes her highly qualified to serve as a Special Education Instructor at Dauphin County Technical School.
The Administration requests approval to hire John Capriotti, English Teacher position, at Bachelors Step 13 ($76,807.94) with full benefits effective August 17, 2026. Mr. Capriotti brings more than 20 years of English Language Arts teaching experience at the middle school level, having served in the Mechanicsburg Area School District, Eagle County School District (Colorado), and most recently the Summit County School District (Colorado). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from James Madison University and a Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Secondary English Education from Kutztown University. Throughout his career, Mr. Capriotti has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement through curriculum development, differentiated instruction, cross-curricular collaboration, and the integration of technology into the classroom. His extensive instructional experience, training in research-based educational practices, and proven ability to engage diverse learners make him well-qualified to serve as an English Instructor at Dauphin County Technical School.
The Administration requests approval to hire Chinyu Hsu, Long-Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher position, at Bachelors Step 1 ($59,633.00) with full benefits effective August 26, 2026. Ms. Hsu holds a Master's Degree in Education and a Pennsylvania Level II Instructional Certificate in Mathematics (Grades 7-12). Ms. Hsu has taught mathematics in several Pennsylvania school districts, including Norristown Area School District, Harrisburg School District, West Chester Area School District, Reading School District, and Chester Upland School District. Her experience includes teaching Geometry, Algebra I, and Algebra II in both traditional and alternative educational settings, serving diverse student populations and supporting student achievement through effective mathematics instruction. Ms. Hsu's strong content knowledge, varied classroom experience, and commitment to ongoing professional development make her well-qualified to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Mathematics Instructor at Dauphin County Technical School.
The Administration requests approval to hire Laura Gerber, School Counselor position, at Masters Step 1 ($62,925.14.00) with full benefits effective August 17, 2026. Mrs. Gerber is a graduate of Millersville University with a Master of Education in School Counseling at Millersville University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State Harrisburg. Through her school counseling internship at Elizabethtown Area High School and practicum experience in the Central Dauphin School District, Mrs. Gerber has provided academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary counseling services, facilitated group counseling, supported college and career planning, participated in crisis intervention, and collaborated with students, families, and educational teams. In addition, her professional background in human resources, project management, and education has strengthened her communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Mrs. Gerber’s training, counseling experience, and dedication to student success make her well-qualified to serve as a School Counselor at Dauphin County Technical School.
The Administration requests approval to hire Ba’Ryea Greene, Teaching Assistant CTE position, $17.00 per hour with single benefits effective August 17, 2026. Ms. Greene is a recent graduate of Dauphin County Technical School, where she successfully completed the Masonry Program from 2021 to 2025. During her time at DCTS, she developed strong technical and hands-on skills while demonstrating a commitment to career and technical education. In addition, Ms. Greene gained valuable real-world experience through approximately one and a half years of cooperative education employment with Lobar Associates, where she worked in concrete construction and general labor. As a DCTS graduate, she brings firsthand knowledge of the school's programs and culture, as well as enthusiasm for supporting and mentoring students pursuing careers in the skilled trades. Her technical training, industry experience, and connection to DCTS make her a strong candidate for the position of CTE Teaching Assistant. The Administration requests approval to hire Alexander Govelovich, Biology/Science Instructor position, at Bachelors Step 10 ($72,514.20) with full benefits effective August 17, 2026. Mr. Govelovich brings more than 26 years of professional STEM experience in geology, environmental science, biology, chemistry, hydrology, and environmental engineering through leadership roles with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and private environmental consulting firms. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology with a minor in Environmental Biology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and is currently pursuing Pennsylvania Instructional I Certification in Biology and Earth & Space Science (Grades 7-12). His extensive experience conducting scientific investigations, analyzing data, mentoring professionals, and applying real-world science to solve complex environmental challenges will provide students with engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to authentic STEM careers and applications. |
